Cucumber is one of nature’s best beauty remedies out there. If you’ve ever taken slices of cucumbers and set them onto your eyes to de-puff and calm the skin, then you know how amazing cucumber can be.
Likely, you’ve seen many skincare products on store shelves that are made with cucumber. However, they also incorporate less-than-natural ingredients that you don’t want on your skin.
We say cut out the middle man. You should make your own homemade cucumber toner. It will result in gorgeously refreshed skin, plus it costs just pennies to make. You’ll be cool as a cucumber for sure!
Why Cucumber in Skincare?
Cucumber has a high water content so it is provides intensive hydration. It’s also a natural coolant. It’s ideal for all skin types because it’s so mild, and it’s incredibly soothing too.
Bonus fact: it has the same pH as skin when it’s healthy. If you frequently wake up feeling puffy or with irritated skin, or even have enlarged pores, using a cucumber face toner will totally change that.
How to Make Homemade Cucumber Toner
A cucumber face toner is very easy to make. However, you will want to preserve your creation well so make sure you get a clean and sterile bottle with a tight-fitting lid. It only takes a couple minutes to make and is so effective, both in cost and on your skin, that you’ll wish you’d started making it yourself sooner.
What you’ll need:
- 1/2 of a large cucumber with peel intact, chopped
- 3 tablespoons of distilled water
- 3 tablespoons of witch hazel
How to make it:
- Add your chopped cucumber, distilled water and witch hazel in your blender or food processor.
- Blend until smooth.
- Pour it through your fine-mesh sieve to separate the liquid from the solids. Make sure you do this over a bowl.
- Pour the liquid into your clean bottle. It may help to use a funnel to avoid spilling.
- Use your toner!
